about;

Who the hell are you?
My name is Blu. I am an artist of sorts, which I'm sure you've discovered if you've been to my collective. Animation & Film is just one of my many interests

What sort of experience do you have?
Literally? I have none. At this time, I have no professional or educational experience in Animation. I've never taken a class in it, so everything you see on this page is just me experimenting in my spare time. I feel I learn best through trial and error rather than instruction, and I can feel pride knowing that I've taught myself something new. Obviously, I'd love to take a course in Animation one day so I can progress and learn new things.

What kind of tools do you use?
To create my animations, I use Photoshop CS (for the initial graphics), Animation Shop 3 (for splicing the frames together) Image Read CS (for resizing, cropping) and Windows Movie Maker for putting everything together. Most of these programs are fairly easy to use with a little practice, but Windows Movie Maker is something anyone can just pick up and use right away. I was surprised how user friendly this program is to use (considering how many terrible AMVs there are on Youtube). So if you want to get into movie making, I recommend using this program.

How long does this take?
Well, I'd have to say it takes me about an hour to do ten seconds of footage. Everything else is easy, but drawing out the frames is the hard part (especially when you're without a lighttable). So the project I'm moving on will probably take me about a month, because I get too burnt out or I'm too busy to do more than twenty seconds of footage a day, and obviously I'm not going to be able to work on a project EVERY day. So yeah, if you want to get into animation, and you want to make a short story, make sure you know what you're getting into. It takes dedication. If you're not doing animations and just making silly videos, it's a different matter, but animations is every bit as hard as everyone claims it is. But the final product if worth all the hard work.
